On Sunday, January 19, 2020, the 13th anniversary of Hrant Dink’s assassination was commemorated with special events organized by the Organization of Istanbul Armenians (OIA).
In the afternoon, a wreath-laying ceremony took place at the Armenian Martyrs’ Monument in Montebello, which was followed by requiem prayers for Hrant Dink as well as Sarkis Hatspanian, Sevak Balikci, and Prof. Vahakn Dadrian. On behalf of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, Rev. Fr. Ashod Kambourian participated in the service.
The annual tribute program was held in the evening at OIA center in Winnetka. On behalf of the Prelate, Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian attended.
The program began with the invocation and requiem prayer recited by clergy members. The keynote speakers were Pakrat Estukyan, Editor in Chief of the Armenian section of Agos, Roy Arakelian, prominent French-Armenian attorney, and Tamar Nalci, member of the “Friends of Hrant” organization.
The annual “Hrant Dink Spirit of Freedom and Justice Medal” was this year awarded to Pakrat Estukyan.
