On Friday, March 6, 2020, leaders of the Armenian Apostolic, Catholic, and Evangelical Churches, clergy, and faithful women gathered at United Armenian Congregational Church in Los Angeles for the 50th annual Women’s World Day of Prayer. This year’s theme was “Rise, take up your bed and walk” from John 5:8.
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended and delivered the closing remarks. He was joined by Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian, Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian, and Rev. Fr. Movses Shannakian.
The service featured Scripture readings, prayers, hymns, spiritual songs, reflections, and messages.
The Prelate commended the faithful women for each year organizing and attending this special service given the power and value of prayer, especially during this spiritually transformative period of Great Lent. He noted that we all have pains and struggles, whether physical, intellectual, spiritual, emotional, or some other challenge, and stressed that we need only to look to God for He is always by our side offering us the opportunities and steps we need to better ourselves, if we only open our spiritual ears to hear Him. “The disable man, not even knowing that the person telling him to rise and walk was the Son of God, nonetheless trusted, obeyed, and acted. Let us also strive to hear, obey, and act on God’s Word and commandments, with the faith, hope, and conviction that we too will be made well,” stated the Prelate.
The program concluded with the Lord’s Prayer.
