A Call for Widespread Community Participation in Armenian Genocide 101st Anniversary Commemorations

On Sunday, April 24, 2016, the Armenian nation worldwide will join together in spirit to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, to pay tribute to our 1.5 million holy martyrs and continue to voice our demands for justice with utmost dedication and unwavering resolve. We hereby urge our community to participate in large numbers in all commemorative events to be held locally with the same momentum with which we commemorated the Armenian Genocide Centennial a year ago.

On the morning of April 24, special prayers dedicated to our martyrs will be offered in all Prelacy Churches during Divine Liturgy. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will preside over the service and deliver his message at St. Garabed Church in Hollywood. At 1:00 p.m., the community will gather in front of the Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles for the Rally for Justice organized by the Armenian Genocide Committee. We are certain that on April 24, the collective voice of the Armenian people will resound from Armenia throughout the Diaspora as we call for recognition and justice for our righteous cause, especially in light of continued attacks on our homeland by the same perpetrators, this time colluding with Azerbaijan against Artsakh.

On Saturday, April 23, the United Armenian Council of Los Angeles is hosting a community-wide commemoration at the Armenian Genocide Monument in Bicknell Park in Montebello, featuring a religious service, political messages, and cultural presentations. The commemoration begins at 1:00 p.m.
