On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, Prelacy Schools opened their doors to the 2021-2022 academic year, welcoming back old and new students alike accompanied by their parents. The back to school message of H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, was read by local parish pastors during opening ceremonies.

The Prelate presided over the back to school ceremony of Ferrahian School in Encino which took place at “Avedissian” Hall with the participation of Holy Martyrs Church pastor Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian, School administration, faculty, and students. Following the Lord’s Prayer led by Fr. Razmig, Principal Sossi Shanlian delivered welcoming remarks in which she expressed hope that the new school year will proceed smoothly without any obstacles, and that the pandemic will come to an end and life will return to normal soon.
The Prelate expressed thanks to the Lord for the start of a new school year filled with new hopes. He wished a blessed and fruitful year to the administration and faculty, and a year free of challenges and worries to the students. He also expressed hope that this year would be a brighter one relative to last year so that our schools can fulfill their educational mission and meet expectations without any further crises and obstacles. In conclusion, the Prelate emphasized that he, as Prelate, and the Western Prelacy, as a whole, aspire for the success of our Schools and wished that our sponsors continue to lend their valuable support to our Schools which “have been and continue to be the guarantors of our national existence.”
