Board of Regents Hosts Annual Professional Development Day Seminar


On Saturday, October 15, 2016, the annual Professional Development Day hosted by the Board of Regents of Prelacy Schools was held with the participation of Principals, Directors, administrators, and teachers of all local Armenian Schools. The seminar was sponsored by the CSUN Armenian Studies Program and was held on the CSUN campus. The seminar featured a keynote address by Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, the Board of Regents message delivered by Chair Mrs. Lisa Gaboudian, general sessions, and special sessions for teachers of different grade levels.

H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, delivered the invocation and conveyed his message. He was accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian.

The Prelate spoke to the participants about the importance of continuing education, especially in the teaching profession, stating that teachers can have a tremendous and lasting influence in the life of a child for they not only impart knowledge but also shape their young minds and hearts.

Noting that an investment in our youth is an investment in our future, the Prelate commended the Board of Regents for organizing the annual seminar where educators enhance skills that will benefit our students and as a result society as a whole, and commended the participants for their attendance, which he said is the greatest affirmation of their devotion to their calling.

As the Year of Service proclaimed by His Holiness Catholicos Aram I nears its end, His Eminence wished for the spirit of the proclamation and the importance of making service the purpose of our lives to inspire and guide our educators and us all.
