By the initiative of the California Armenian Legislative Caucus, on Monday, April 23, 2018, the 103rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was commemorated at the State Capitol in Sacramento with the participation of Armenian-American community leaders and activists.
On behalf of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Ashekian participated in the day’s special events and delivered the Prelate’s invocation on the Senate floor.
The Prelate paid tribute to the holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide and to victims of all genocides, past and present, praying for the repose of their souls and for God’s divine protection to be upon all those caught in the crosshairs of conflict around the world. He thanked our esteemed elected officials for designating this time each year to honor the memory of our ancestors and for their continued solidarity with the Armenian-Armenian community in pursuit of our noble and just cause. “As we continue our quest for universal recognition and justice for the Armenian Genocide, may we draw fortitude, wisdom, and perseverance from You to remain undeterred and tireless in our fight, and with Your divine guidance and the united efforts of our friends and supporters, may truth, justice, and righteousness prevail in due time,” stated His Eminence. He concluded by praying for peace and harmony in the world and mutual respect and tolerance amongst all peoples.
