Christmas Service at Ararat Home

On Thursday, December 29, 2016, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and clergy members visited Ararat Home in Mission Hills to offer prayers and conduct the blessing of water on the occasion of the New Year and the Birth and Revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The visit began at the Skilled Nursing Facility where the blessing of water was conducted and Christmas hymns sung. Mr. Derik Ghoogasian, Chief Operating Officer, served as Godfather of the Cross. The Prelate commended the administration and faculty of Ararat Home for the compassionate care they provide to our elders. “The Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ was the greatest gift to mankind; God revealed His love, light, and glory, and taught us the meaning of true peace, brotherhood, love, and joy,” stated His Eminence, and conveyed his best wishes to all for a happy New Year and good health for the residents. COO Mr. Derik Ghoogasian and Skilled Nursing Facility Executive Director Ms. Margarita Kechichian conveyed their gratitude to the Prelate and clergy for their regular visits, prayers, and well wishes to the Ararat Home family.

A similar service followed at the Sheen Memorial Chapel. Board Chairman Mr. Michael Surmeian served as Godfather of the Cross. The Prelate once again conveyed his commendation of the Ararat Home administration and faculty and wished that they continue their service faithfully. Mr. Surmeian conveyed his appreciation to the Prelate and clergy for spreading the joy of Christmas to the administration, faculty, and residents.

The visit continued at the Assisted Living Facility where the Prelate conducted the Blessing of the Home service, which encompassed the blessing of salt, bread, and water, and blessed the residents, wishing them healthy and happy years to come. Assisted Living Administrator Mrs. Rita Noravian conveyed her thanks and well wishes to the Prelate and clergy.

A luncheon hosted by the administration followed, during which New Year and Christmas well wishes were exchanged. Mr. Yervant Keshishian, the new choirmaster at St. Sarkis Church of Pasadena, enlivened the atmosphere with Christmas hymns and songs.
