Consecration of a Sacred Painting Dedicated to the Holy Translators at the Prelacy Chapel

On Saturday, July 20, 2013, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate,  consecrated a sacred painting depicting the Holy Translators at the Prelacy “St. Dertad and St. Ashkhen” Chapel. Accompanying and assisting the Prelate were Crescenta Valley Parish Pastor Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian and Deacon Khatchig Shannakian.

The painting honors the memory of Hagop Ohanian, whose family are Prelacy sponsors.  Participating in the ceremony were his widow Mrs. Araxi Ohanian, his children Mr. and Mrs. Tony and Arous Hanna, Mr. Viken Ohanian, and Mrs. Tina Kalaydjian, with their familieis.

With prayers and Holy Chrism the Prelate consecrated the sacred painting, which is placed next to a painting of St. Gregory the Illuminator baptizing King Dertad, symbolizing the adoption of Christianity as a state religion and honoring Armenia’s first Christian royal family.

At the conclusion of the service the Prelate blessed the memory of Hagop Ohanian and commended the support and encouragement of the Ohanian children and families of the Prelacy.

A reception with members of the sponsor family followed in the “Sulahian” Reception Hall.
