Diramayr Lousin Keshishian Laid to Rest

As previously reported, on Saturday, September 14, 2019, Diramayr Lousin Keshishian, mother of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, passed away in Lebanon.

Upon hearing this sad news, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and the Executive Council Chairman conveyed their condolences to His Holiness and family on behalf of our Prelacy Clergy, Councils, and faithful. In his condolence letter, His Eminence stated, “Diramayr dedicated a lifetime to ensuring the sanctity of her family. She led a God-centered life and was an exemplary mother. Though she departs from us physically, she leaves behind a living legacy.”

The funeral service took place at the Mother Cathedral in Antelias on Wednesday, September 18, in the presence of representatives of the President, Speaker of Parliament, and Prime Minister of Lebanon, heads of Churches, members of the Catholicosate Brotherhood and Central Executive, representatives of all Armenian community organizations, and family members.

H.E. Archbishop Nareg Alemezian, Prelate of Lebanon, delivered the eulogy highlighting Diramayr’s devoted service to our Church and nation under difficult circumstances.

His Holiness accepted condolences following the internment.

On the same morning, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and clergy members offered a requiem prayer for Diramayr at the Prelacy’s “St. Dertad and St. Ashkhen” Chapel prior to convening a Religious Council meeting.
