Easter Celebration at Ararat Home

On Wednesday, March 30, 2016, Prelacy clergy members, headed by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, visited Ararat Home in Mission Hills to spread Easter cheer to the administration, faculty, and to the elderly residents especially.

The visit began at the Skilled Nursing Facility, where Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian conveyed the felicitations of the Prelate and his fellow clergymen and spoke briefly about Easter. The Blessing of the Home service followed, comprised of prayers and Easter hymns, after which residents received Holy Communion. Skilled Nursing Facility Administrator Margarita Kechichian thanked the Prelate and clergy for their regular visits. The Prelate commended the loving care of the administrators and faculty and conveyed his blessings to all.

Divine Liturgy followed at the Sheen Memorial Chapel, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan, who also delivered the sermon. At the end of the service, the Prelate blessed and consecrated two vemkars, one of which will be displayed on the chapel altar.

A luncheon hosted by the administration followed. The festive atmosphere was further enlivened by egg fights and songs, and a beautiful rendition of the melody “Christ is Risen” by a 95 year-old resident. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, former Chairman Mr. Joseph Kanimian, Esq., greeted and presented a gift basket to the Prelate as a token of gratitude for his spiritual care, while His Eminence presented a memento in commendation of the administration’s dedicated service.
