On Tuesday, August 16, 2016, the feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God was celebrated at Ararat Home in Mission Hills with a special prayer service and the traditional blessing of grapes conducted by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, accompanied by clergy members.
The celebration began at the Skilled Nursing Facility with the blessing of the home service and grape blessing ceremony. On behalf of the Prelate and fellow clergy, Rev. Fr. Ardak Demirjian conveyed blessings and well wishes to the residents and the faculty who care for them. Ararat Home COO Mr. Derik Ghoogasian and Skilled Nursing Facility Administrator Ms. Margarita Kechichian both thanked the Prelate and clergy for their loving care they demonstrated toward Ararat Home and its residents. Residents received Holy Communion and the service concluded with the collective singing of Cilicia.
The celebration continued at the Sheen Memorial Chapel where a special service took place comprised of hymns dedicated to the Holy Mother of God, blessing of the four corners of the world (Antasdan), and blessing of grapes, beseeching the intercession of the Holy Mother of God for peace and prosperity in the world. The Prelate conveyed his blessings and message, in which he prayed for the health of the residents, commended the administration and faculty for their dedicated service, and wished them continued successes in their mission. His Eminence also invited all to emulate the ideal example of the Holy Mother of God and seek her intercession. Board Chairman Mr. Michael Surmeian conveyed his thanks and appreciation to the Prelate for his regular visits and traditional services.
Next, the blessing of the home service was conducted at the Assisted Living Facility, which included songs and hymns dedicated to the Holy Mother of God. A luncheon hosted by the administration followed, in which residents also participated. The visit concluded with the presentation of prayer cards dedicated to the feast of the Assumption.
