On the evening of Friday, March 29, 2013, Holy Week services continued within the Prelacy with Good Friday, the solemn commemoration of the burial of our Lord Jesus Christ.
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, presided over the Good Friday service at St. Garabed Church in Hollywood and delivered his message on this occasion.
The sacrifice of our Jesus Christ was the culmination of the mission He was sent to fulfill, to take on the sin of man to grant mankind the hope of redemption and salvation, said the Prelate. His burial was the conclusion of His earthly mission and an apparent victory for His opponents. In reality, His burial was the fulfillment of prophecy as well as confirmation of the profound love and devotion which was personified by Joseph of Arimathea. His tomb became the symbol of the Resurrection and of victory over death, the promise of eternal life, and a call for Christians to live by faith. Good Friday, concluded the Prelate, is an invitation to deeply contemplate the extend of His sacrificial love for us and to spiritually prepare to welcome the Good News of His Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
