Holy Tuesday Commemoration

On April 16, 2019, Holy Tuesday service was conducted in Prelacy Churches, commemorating the Parable of the Ten Maidens. Sunday School students participated in the service, representing the ten maidens. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, presided over Holy Tuesday service and delivered his message at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino.

The Prelate began his sermon by greeting and commending the Sunday School students, after which he gave an overview of the last days of our Lord Jesus Christ’s earthly mission and His cautioning that we must always be alert and prepared, for we do not know the day or time of His second coming. Citing Matthew 24:46 from the day’s Gospel reading, which says blessed is the servant whom his master, when he comes, will find that he has done good in his duties, His Eminence stated that our duty is to be faithful followers and disciples of Christ.

The five wise maidens were prepared to greet the bridegroom, because they had taken extra oil for their lamps, while the five foolish maidens were left out, said the Prelate, stating that the oil in our lives is the God-given grace of the Holy Spirit, and it is our duty to grow in grace by drawing near to Him, opening our hearts and souls to Him, praying, doing good deeds, by hearing, accepting, and fulfilling His commandments. “Let us nurture and grow the graces that the Lord has blessed us with, let us be alert in heart, mind, and spirit, and be His good workers, so that when He returns as the righteous judge, we too will be worthy of hearing, Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing,” concluded the Prelate.
