On Saturday, September 8, 2018, Homenetmen Los Angeles Chapter celebrated its 50th anniversary with a gala banquet held at CBS Studio Center. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended and delivered the invocation. He was accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian. Executive Council members were in attendance.
The program began with the flag ceremony by chapter scouts followed by the national anthems. Following the invocation, the Prelate greeted and congratulated the Homenetmen family and in particular the members of the Los Angeles Chapter on their milestone 50th anniversary celebration, stating, “As members of one family, your successes are our successes, and tonight we share in your joy with great pride.” He congratulated and commended the chapter’s devoted members and gracious sponsors who together fulfill Homenetmen’s valuable mission and recognized the evening’s “Exemplary Member” Award recipient, Mr. Varant Melkonian, for his lifetime of service and philanthropy not only to Homenetmen but to countless community organizations. His Eminence concluded by conveying his blessings and wishes for continued success.
The program continued with welcoming remarks by the evening’s MC, Mr. Mher Tavidian, and the chapter’s message by Mr. Ari Boyajian. Congressman Adam Schiff presented a certificate of recognition. Mr. Aram Yeremian spoke on behalf of the Regional Executive and presented a certificate. A plaque was also presented by the Homenetmen Glendale “Ararat” Chapter. The program continued after dinner with the honoring of Mr. Varant Melkonian as “Exemplary Member,” which was presented by 50th Anniversary Committee Chair Mr. Steve Artinian. Mr. Melkonian expressed gratitude for the honor and thanked the Lord for His blessings. The candle lighting ceremony followed and the evening continued with musical entertainment.
