By the invitation of L.A. County Board of Supervisor Michael Antonovich, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, clergy and community members attended a special presentation held during the Board’s weekly meeting in remembrance of the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923. On behalf of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian, and Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian attended and conveyed the Prelate’s message to the members of the Board of Supervisors. Consul Valery Mkrtoumian was among the dignitaries in attendance.
Supervisor Antonovich greeted the guests and presented representatives of the Armenian community organizations and institutions with the resolution adopted in remembrance of the Armenian Genocide.
Through his message, the Prelate thanked the Board for taking the time each year to honor the 1.5 million holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide and for their unwavering friendship and support. “In the month of April, Armenians worldwide rallied once again to remember, to remind, and to keep on pursuing recognition and justice for our people and for all victims of Genocide, past and present. Indeed, no matter how much time passes, we will continue to persist in our cause and we are hopeful that we will triumph, with the united efforts of our people and with the solidarity of friends like you,” stated the Prelate, and wished the Board members continued successes in their service.
Consul Mkrtoumian also delivered remarks, commending the Board of Supervisor’s initiative in organizing the annual commemoration.
