By the initiative of Supervisor Kathryn Barger, on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, a special presentation was held during the weekly meeting of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors proclaiming April 24 as the “Day of Remembrance for the Armenian Genocide.”

G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Vicar General, attended and read the Prelate’s invocation. He was joined by Rev. Fr. Movses Shannakian.
In his invocation, His Eminence thanked Supervisor Kathryn Barger and the members of the Board of Supervisors for once again honoring the memory of our holy martyrs and for their continued solidarity with the Armenian-American community, praying for the Lord to bless them and guide them in their service. He prayed for the intercession of our holy martyrs and for the souls of all victims of genocide, past and present. As we continue our quest for universal recognition and justice for the Armenian Genocide, may You help us remain undeterred and tireless in our fight, for we are certain that truth, justice, and righteousness will prevail with Your divine strength and guidance and with the united efforts of our friends and supporters, concluded the Prelate.
