On Saturday, April 16, 2016, the opening ceremony of “Armenia: An Open Wound” exhibition was held at Brand Library in Glendale with the presence of Glendale city officials, clergy, and community leaders and members. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, participated in the opening ceremony and delivered his message. He was accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian, Rev. Fr. Gomidas Torossian, Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian, and Executive Council member Dr. Navasart Kazazian.
His Eminence thanked all those involved in the realization of the exhibit, including Glendale city officials and the Library, Arts, and Culture Department, Dr. Carlos Antaramian and Sonia Arakelian at the Museum of Memory and Tolerance in Mexico City, Brand Library, and the Armenian American Museum Executive and Exhibit Organizing Committees, headed by Mr. Berdj Karapetian. “Although one hundred and one years have passed since the Armenian Genocide, we continue and will continue to commemorate because we are inheritors of the history that has made us who we are today. And so, we commend the hard work and diligence of all those involved in the realization of this beautiful tribute to our rich history and heritage, and for their initiative in making the story of the Armenian people available to the general public,” stated His Eminence.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony followed, with the participation of Glendale Mayor Paula Devine, clergy, Sonia Arakelian, and Armenian American Museum members, after which guests were invited to view the exhibit.
