On Friday, October 18, 2019, the official opening of the “Gabriel and Rose Injejikian Sports Complex” at Ferrahian School in Encino took place presided by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and with the participation of High School Principal Sossi Shanlian, Marie Cabayan Elementary School Principal John Kossakian, School Board members, Rosdom and Arshavir Shiragian Gomideh representatives, alumni, Rose Injejikian and family. His Eminence was joined by Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian and Executive Council member Rafi Kuyumjian.
The program began with the unveiling and blessing of the donor recognition wall. Fr. Razmig delivered the invocation. Remarks were conveyed by Principal Shanlian, alumnus/architect Karnig Deukmejian who designed the donor wall, School Board Chair Garo Tchakian, and Athletic Director Arshag Markarian on behalf of the “Armens.”
The Prelate delivered his message, which he began by thanking God for guiding the project to its successful completion and commending the hard work and diligent efforts of the principals, administrations, School Boards, “Armens,” and alumni. “Earlier this year, our community as a whole mourned the loss of Gabriel Injejikian, a visionary and pioneer who devoted over seven decades in service to the education and instruction of generations of Armenian youth. He left an indelible mark in the hearts and souls of his students and peers, and today, with this complex, his undying legacy is further immortalized and cemented. He would have been so proud to see this complex standing here today, a great asset for current and prospective students of his beloved school, yet so touched and humbled to have it dedicated in his honor. His spirit is, no doubt, here with us today sharing in our joy,” stated the Prelate.
The program concluded with the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
