Under the direction of the Prelate, clergy and deacons visit local area jails on a weekly basis to offer spiritual guidance and comfort to inmates and prepare them to live their lives as upstanding Christians upon their release.
On Saturday, May 7, two members of the Prelacy jail ministry program, Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan and Chaplain Rafi Garabedian, paid a special visit to North County Correctional Facility in Castaic. They were joined by Holy Martyrs Church Deacon Avedis Apkarian and three members of the St. Sarkis Church youth group, Hagop Baltayan, Elijah Hagopian, and Koko Helvajian.
The youth had the opportunity to hear the inmates’ stories and their testimony about finding God and transforming their lives thanks to the Prelacy jail ministry program. A religious service was conducted, after which the inmates received Holy Communion. The youth gifted religious material and prayer books to the inmates.
After the visit, Fr. Boghos, Chaplain Rafi, and their guests had a meeting with the warden, who commended them for their dedicated service and commended our church for the care and attention it provides to inmates.
