Prelate Delivers Invocation at ANCA-WR Annual Gala


On Sunday, October 16, 2016, the annual gala of the Armenian National Committee of America Western Region was held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles with the participation of elected officials, community leaders, activists, and members, sponsors, and friends of the Armenian-American community.

H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended and delivered the invocation. The Prelate commended the members and volunteers of the ANCA-WR for their faithful, diligent, and tireless service in pursuit of the Armenian Cause by educating, motivating, and activating our community members and our youth in particular. His Eminence commended the evening’s honorees who in their respective capacities have brought advancements to our cause. This year’s honorees were: Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian – “Legislator of the Year Award” Congressman Brad Sherman – “Advocate for Justice Award,” German politician Cem Ozdemir and the German Bundestag – “Freedom Award,” community leader and philanthropist Varoujan Koundakjian (posthumously) “Legacy Award,” California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson – “Man of the Year Award,” Golden State Warriors Coach Steve Kerr and the Kerr Family – “Humanitarian Award,” and special recognition for the filmmakers of The Promise, a film about the Armenian Genocide. Finally, the Prelate commended the elected officials, benefactors, sponsors, and friends who throughout the year lend their valuable support to the ANCA-WR and to the Armenian-American community. His Eminence concluded by urging all to continue to serve with focus, optimism, renewed energy, brotherly love, and unity, with only the best interests of our nation and people at heart.
