Prelate Delivers Message at Navasartian Closing Ceremony

On Saturday, July 7, 2018, the closing ceremony of the 43rd Navasartian Games and Festival was held at Birmingham High School with the participation of Homenetmen leadership and members, Honorary Presidents Mr. and Mrs. Hamlet and Greta Chraghchian, Exemplary Member Mr. Koko Balian, friends and supporters of Homenetmen. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended and delivered his message.

The program began with the flag ceremony. Remarks were delivered by Homenetmen Central Executive member Mr. Viggen Davidian. Regional Executive member Mr. Sarkis Garabetian read the congratulatory letter of Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian. State Senator Anthony Portantino presented a proclamation on the occasion of Homenetmen’s centennial. Regional Executive Chairman Mr. Manuel Marselian delivered his message and invited the Prelate to convey his message.

The Prelate began his message by expressing gratitude to God for the milestone year of national pride during which we celebrate the centennial of the first Republic of Armenia and of Homenetmen. He greeted and commended the organizers and participants of the 43rd Navasartian Games and Festival who together made this year’s games and festival yet another great success and recorded another triumph in Homenetmen’s one-hundred year history. “A century ago, Homenetmen was established with the noble mission of ensuring the proper physical, mental, and spiritual development of the youth and guiding them to becoming exemplary individuals and exemplary Armenians. One-hundred years on, it remains strong as ever thanks to generation after generation of youth who enter its ranks and serve for a lifetime to keep Homenetmen the indispensable and beloved organization that it is throughout the world,” stated the Prelate. His Eminence paid tribute to the founders of Homenetmen and lauded all those who carry on their mission, sparing no effort when it comes to embedding character and Christian Armenian spirit in the hearts and minds of our youth through various programs included the “St. Mesrob Mashdots,” “Kayl Vahan,” and “St. Vartan” emblem programs with the collaboration of the Prelacy. He saluted also Homenetmen’s inclusion of youth with special needs at this year’s games.

The ceremony featured the parade of athletes and scouts, distribution of championship trophies, and fireworks.

On the evening of Thursday, July 5, the Prelate, accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Vazken Atmajian, paid a visit to the booths and conveyed his blessings to all.
