In keeping with tradition, on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, presided over the last Sunrise Service of Lent at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino and delivered his message to the faithful and Ferrahian School students in attendance. Throughout Great Lent, the Prelate presided over Sunrise and Vigil services at varoius parishes.
The Prelate spoke to the students about Lent as an opportunity to self-reflection and self-renewal and a time to open our hearts to God through genuine prayer with sincere hearts. And when we open our hearts to God, let us also open our hearts to our fellow man and do good for others, especially for those most in need, urged the Prelate. As Lent comes to a close, His Eminence concluded his message by inviting the students to examine themselves spiritually and turn to God for redemption to be able to welcome the glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ with purified hearts and souls.
Following the service the Prelate presided over the traditional luncheon organized each year on this occasion by the parish Ladies Guild. The luncheon began with the invocation by the Prelate, after which Ladies Guild Chair Mrs.

Nancy Bedirian welcomed the guests. Parish Pastor Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian thanked the Prelate for joining the parish community each year on this occasion, and commended the Ladies Guild members and sponsors for their service and support. The luncheon featured a lecture by long-time educator Mr. Haigaz Terterian on “The Year of Service” proclamation of His Holiness Aram I. Mr. Terterian spoke of the different ways one can serve, whether in our churches, schools, or community organizations, and stressed the importance of individual service for the collective good. Following the presentation, the Prelate commended Mr. Terterian for his lecture, and commended also the service of the Pastor, Board of Trustees, and Ladies Guild, urging all to contribute to the progress of our church and nation by serving with selflessness, humility, sincerity, and brotherly love.
