On Sunday, September 27, 2015, the blessing of Holy Muron was conducted by His Holiness Karekin I at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and H.E. Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, Prelate of Aleppo, represented His Holiness Aram I at the Muron blessing and at various events held in the days preceding and following the ceremony. We hereby present an overview of events:
On Thursday, September 24, the two Prelates represented His Holiness at the consecration of Holy Martyrs Armenian Catholic Church in Gyumri and conveyed the congratulations and well wishes of our Pontiff to the Armenian Catholic community.
On Saturday, September 26, an Ecumenical gathering was held, followed by an Ecumenical prayer service.

On Sunday, September 27, Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Mother Cathedral, after which the ceremony of the blessing of Holy Muron commenced at the St. Dertad open-air altar. The Prelate assisted in the ceremony. Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian presented the newly blessed Muron from Antelias to be added to the new Muron.
Monday, September 28, encompassed various events. The day began with a visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex at Dzidzernagapert. Intercessory prayers to our martyrs were offered, followed by a tour of the Armenian Genocide Museum. Requiem prayer was offered for Catholicos Karekin I of blessed memory at the gravesite in the Mother Cathedral courtyard, followed by the opening of the Karekin I Educational Center. Subsequently the blessing of two cross-stones was conducted, replicas of two ancient cross-stones found at the Monastery of St. David in Terchan, Western Armenia. The day concluded with a fine arts exhibition dedicated to the Holy Muron, proceeds of which will benefit Syrian-Armenians.
On Tuesday, September 29, the release of commemorative stamps dedicated to the Blessing of Holy Muron took place.
