Prelate to Attend Inauguration of Pope Francis I and Enthronement of the Archbishop of Canterbury


On Tuesday, March 19, His Holiness Pope Francis I will be officially installed as the new Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church at Saint Peter’s Basilica.

His Holiness Catholicos Aram I has appointed the Prelate to be part of the delegation representing the Catholicosate of Cilicia at the Papal Inaugural Mass.

On Thursday, March 14, the Prelate sent a letter to H.E. Archbishop Jose Gomez of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, congratulating the Roman Catholic Community of Los Angeles on the election of the new Pope.  “We share in your joy on this momentous occasion and pray first and foremost for the good health of His Holiness Pope Francis I throughout his papacy.  May Almighty God grace His Holiness the strength, courage, and divine wisdom to lead the world’s vast Catholic population with the same humility and compassion he has demonstrated throughout his ministry.  May God bless and safeguard the Roman Catholic Church and community of faithful around the world”, stated the Prelate.

The Prelate will depart from the Vatican on Wednesday, March 20 and head to England to represent the Catholicosate of Cilicia at the enthronement of The Most Reverend and Rt. Hon. Justin Welby as the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of All England and Metropolitan.  The ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 21.  The Prelate will return to Los Angeles on Saturday, March 23, in time for Palm Sunday and Holy Week celebrations.
