Prelate to Preside over Divine Liturgy at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino on the Eve of Great Lent

Sunday, February 23, 2020 is the eve of Great Lent (Poon Paregentan).

H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will preside over Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino.

During the service, His Eminence will bless cross-pins and present them to thirty Homenetmen scouts who will begin the “St. Mesrob Mashdots” religious curriculum, upon successful completion of which they will be awarded the special religious emblem.

H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Vicar General, will preside over Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale.

REQUIEM

By the request of the Armenian Relief Society Western Region Executive and the ordinance of the Prelate, on this day, requiem prayers will be offered in all Prelacy Churches for the souls of departed ARS members and sponsors. On the 100th anniversary of the Marash massacre, requiem prayers will also be offered for victims of the massacre and heroes of the self-defense battle. A memorial luncheon and program will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Union of Marash Armenians center in Pasadena, which Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan will attend on behalf of His Eminence.
