On the afternoon of Thursday, September 3, 2015, the Steering Committee of the National Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide Centennial held a meeting in Washington D.C. to evaluate the various commemorative events that were held in May. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, a member of the Steering Committee, participated in the meeting.
In the evening a dinner reception was hosted by the Steering Committee to express appreciation to the members of all organizing sub-committees for successfully planning and implementing the events. The program began with welcoming remarks by Chairman of the Finance Committee and Master of Ceremonies Dr. Jean-Jacques Hajjar. The invocation and remarks were delivered by H.E. Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern United States. On behalf of the Steering Committee, Chairman Mr. Noubar Afeyan commended the unity and collaboration exhibited by the sub-committees to ensuring the success of the events and presented the Sub-Committees’ Chairs with mementos in appreciation for their dedicated service.
Archbishop Mardirossian was then invited to offer his reflections on the commemorative events. All three Prelates in their messages commended the work that was carried out and urged all to continue their service to our cause in keeping with the “remember and demand” motto and in the spirit of awareness, unity, and gratitude. Pastors from local parishes also conveyed their thoughts. The program concluded with the closing message and benediction by H.E. Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Eastern United States.
