Prelate Visits St. Sarkis Church Vacation Bible School

Over the summer break a number of Prelacy Churches have organized Vacation Bible Schools where children and youth can learn Bible stories, psalms, and prayers and participate in fun and educational games and activities. On Thursday, July 9, 2015, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, paid a visit to St. Sarkis Church Vacation Bible School in Pasadena where he conveyed his blessings and message to the administrators and participants. The Prelate was accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian. Executive Council member Mrs. Therese Kemanjian joined in the visit.

Upon his arrival the Prelate was welcomed by parish pastor Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan, Board of Trustees members, teachers, and youth. More than 50 youth are participating in the four one-week sessions which began on July 6 and will conclude on July 31st.

The participants presented a program of songs and recitations for His Eminence, after which welcoming remarks were delivered by the pastor and director. The Prelate commended the youth on their presentation, commended the organizers for their dedication to the religious and national education of our generations, and taught the students the prayer “Lord have mercy.”

The Prelate also explained the meaning of the forthcoming Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ and spoke to the youth about the importance of prayer, encouraging and urging them to talk to God through the stirring prayers composed by our forefathers and through their own individual prayers. The visit concluded with a question and answer period.
