Prelate Visits St. Sarkis Church Vacation Bible School

On Thursday, July 14, 2016, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, visited St. Sarkis Church Vacation Bible School, where participants ages 3 to 13 presented a beautiful program of hymns, prayers, and Bible verses. The theme of this 5th annual Vacation Bible School is “God loves you and wants you to be happy and healthy.”

Upon his arrival, the Prelate was greeted by parish pastor Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan, Board of Trustees and Ladies Guild members, Sunday School Director Mrs. Aline Sarkissian-Nigoghossian and teachers. Executive Council member Mrs. Therese Kemanjian and St. Sarkis Church delegate Mr. Sarkis Dervishian were also in attendance.

Following welcoming remarks by the pastor and director, the Prelate delivered his message which he began by commending the parish family and volunteers for their commitment to the spiritual growth of our youth, and commending youth for their inspired presentations. His Eminence explained to them the power of the prayers they recited, which included the Beatitudes, and taught them a new Beatitude, “Blessed are those who hear the Word of God, for they will remain His children.” The Prelate also spoke to the children about God’s boundless love, especially for children, stating that God loves us so much that He sent His only-begotten Son as our Savior and He wants us to follow Him to the path of salvation. Lastly, the Prelate spoke to them about our religious forefathers and invited them to join him in singing “Aravod Louso” written by St. Nerses the Graceful. A conversation and question and answer period followed, after which His Eminence blessed them all and presented mementos.

A luncheon followed in the church courtyard.
