For the past few years, a number of Western Prelacy parishes have been organizing Vacation Bible Schools over the summer where youth come together to learn prayers, Bible stories, hymns, services and traditions of the Armenian Apostolic Church, and engage in educational and fun activities including, sports, games, and arts and crafts.
On Wednesday, July 26, 2017, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, visited St. Sarkis Vacation Bible School in Pasadena, and conveyed his blessings and message to the teachers and young students. Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan, Executive Council member Mrs. Therese Kemanjian, Board of Trustees and Ladies Guild members, and parents were in attendance. This years’ theme was “The Lord is my Shepherd,” and the Director was Mrs. Ashkhen Yeremian-Clemens.
The program began with the Lord’s Prayer, followed by prayer and the Armenian national anthem. The students presented a rich cultural program comprised of hymns, prayers, and traditional national songs.
Fr. Boghos gave an overview of the Vacation Bible School curriculum, which includes prayers, hymns, Armenian songs, poems, and more, noting that this year marks the fifth anniversary of the program.
