On the evening of Tuesday, January 20, 2015, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, welcomed to the Prelacy members of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR) who at the start of each year pay a visit to convey their New Year and Christmas well wishes to His Eminence and discuss the endeavors of the coming year.
The meeting was held at the Sulahian Reception Hall with the participation of Executive Council Chair Mr. Vahe Hovaguimian. ABMDR President Dr. Frieda Jordan and Board members gave a general overview of the organization’s endeavors over the last 15 years, stating that their mission continues to expand and now encompasses Armenia, the U.S., and Europe. The members stated that in their headquarters in Armenia, 15 employees and thousands of volunteers work together to provide services to those suffering from rare and complex diseases, the numbers of which sadly continues to rise. The organization this year too is planning a number of fundraisers, including the annual walk-a-thon, for which they ask the blessings of the Prelate and the support of Prelacy parishes.
The Prelate commended the humanitarian service of the members and affirmed the support of the Prelacy to the ABMDR’s life-saving mission. His Eminence and guests decided on April 12, the first Sunday after Easter or New Sunday, as the day to offer special prayers in Prelacy Churches for patients and volunteers of the ABMDR, and for the organization’s representatives to be available to provide information to parishioners.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Prelate presented copies of his latest book, “A Collection of Spiritual Reflections” to the guests.
