Presentation of Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian’s “Essays on Biblical Concepts and Social Issues”

On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, the presentation of Holy Cross Cathedral Dean Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian’s newly published book, “Essays on Biblical Concepts and Social Issues” was presented at the Cathedral’s “Tumanjan” Hall in Montebello. The event was held under the auspices of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and was organized by the Cathedral’s Board of Trustees.

In attendance were the Cathedral’s Parish Pastor Rev. Fr. Ashod Kambourian, former Parish Pastor Rev. Fr. Khoren Babochian, Delegates, Board of Trustees and Ladies Guild members, “Tro” gomideh representatives, Mesrobian School Principal David Ghoogasian and members, ARS “Nayiri” chapter representatives, and parishioners.

Opening remarks were delivered by the MC, Dikran DerSarkissian, who welcomed the guests and introduced the author.

Rev. Fr. Movses Shannakian presented the biblical portion, noting that the book promotes faithfulness to our Christian principles and is relevant especially in this day and age when more than ever we must arm ourselves with biblical teachings and wisdom to overcome modern-day challenges.

Cathedral Delegate and Board Member Berch Papikyan presented the social issues portion, which confronts contemporary matters of concern to mankind, and gave an overview of those issues that challenge Christian families today.

Cathedral choir members, led by choirmaster Deacon Norayr Tertsagian, and Armenian Mesrobian School students participated in the program with songs, recitations, and dance.

Fr. Muron thanked all for their presence and support, in particular Mr. and Mrs. Jirayr and Aura Kiladjian for sponsoring the book in memory of their parents Krikor and Nevart Kiladjian. He noted that the book is the product of years of study and a collection of college articles on moral, social, theological, and ecclesiastical topics which are relevant today.

The Prelate commended Fr. Muron’s hard work as well as the program’s organizers and participants. He encouraged the faithful to read the book as it provides answers to a number of questions, and furthermore suggested a roundtable discussion of the issues, adding that more than ever we are in need of spiritual renewal, strength, and fervor.

The program concluded with the benediction, after which guests enjoyed a reception and received signed copies of the book.
