As was widely reported throughout Armenia and the Diaspora, on January 12, 2015, six members of the Avetisyan family were brutally murdered in their home in Gyumri by a Russian soldier. By the ordinance of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, on Sunday, January 18 requiem prayers were offered for the family at St. Garabed Church in Hollywood, St. Mary’s Church in Glendale, and Holy Cross Cathedral in Montebello. “Der Voghormya” prayers were also said for the recovery of the lone survivor, 6 month old Seryozha Avetisyan.
Tragically, Seryozha died from his injuries earlier this week. By the request of the ARF Western Region Central Committee, on Sunday, January 25 requiem prayers will be offered at St. Mary’s Church of Glendale for the souls of the Avetisyan family and baby Seryozha.
