On Tuesday, November 22, 2016 the heads of the Armenian Apostolic, Syriac Orthodox, and Coptic Orthodox Churches of the Western United States gathered at Holy Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church in Encino for a special meeting of the Council of Oriental Orthodox Churches. The meeting was hosted by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate.
The day began with a prayer service at the church led by the Prelate, Council Chairman H.G. Bishop Serapion, H.E. Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, and H.E. Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, and with the participation of clergy Council members.
The meeting commenced with prayer at the “Yeghia Sarafian” assembly room. The Council primarily discussed tentative events for the coming year, in particular a joint commemoration of the martyrs of the 21st century.
Council members were hosted to lunch following the meeting.
