In light of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I’s “Year of Service” proclamation, on Thursday, October 20, 2016, the Pastor and Board of Trustees of St. Garabed Church of Hollywood honored over one hundred individuals who have served the community for twenty-five years or more through St. Garabed Church (Sunday School, Choir, Ladies Guild), Rose and Alex Pilibos School, “Karekin Njdeh” Gomideh, Raffi Cultural Association, Homenetmen, or the ARS.
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, presided over the event, which held at “Karapetian” Hall with the participation of over 300 guests.
The program began with the Lord’s Prayer led by the Prelate. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Parish Pastor Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian. MC and Pilibos School teacher Moushegh Bedevian greeted the guests and spoke briefly on the importance of service to community. The keynote speaker was Pilibos School teacher Tamar Tufenkdjian, who highlighted the value of selfless and sincere service. The program included songs, dance, recitations, and musical performances by Pilibos students.
The Prelate delivered his message, the essence of which was to serve with love, faith, and devotion. His Eminence emphasized the qualities that make a good servant, and that is to serve with heart and soul, with humility, and with a sense of responsibility and accountability, offering our abilities and resources for the good of the collective. The Prelate commended the evening’s honorees and all those who serve for the progress of the community, and urged them to renew and strengthen their commitment to serve.
All the honorees were presented plaques of appreciation. The Prelate personally presented a plaque to Prof. Ara Manash in commendation for his years-long commendable service as choir conductor and educator.
The program concluded with the benediction and “Cilicia.” A reception followed.
