St. Sarkis Church Honors Armenian Graduates from the Pasadena School District

On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, the 27th annual appreciation night hosted by St. Sarkis Church Parish Pastor Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan, and Board of Trustees in honor of Armenian graduates from the Pasadena Unified School District was held at the Pasadena Armenian Center.

H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended and delivered the invocation and message. Executive Council member Mrs. Therese Kemanjian was among the guests in attendance.

The program was comprised of remarks by members of the organizing committee, St. Sarkis Church, Pasadena City Council, Pasadena Unified School District, cultural performances, and presentation of scholarships. The keynote address was delivered by Arpie Jivalagian, Esq.

The Prelate began his message by greeting the guests and congratulating the graduates for the hard work and perseverance that earned them this recognition. Stating that life is filled with boundless opportunities but also challenges, His Eminence, quoting from Joshua 1:9, encouraged the students to “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” The Prelate urged the graduates to always pray, keep learning, and to believe in themselves, stating that with faith, patience, hard work, and determination, they can achieve anything they set their minds to. His Eminence also reminded the graduates that as Armenian-Americans, they are entrusted with contributing to the prosperity of both our nations, adding, “in all that you do, bring glory to God and pride to your families and to communities.” Finally, the Prelate commended the St. Sarkis Church family for continuing the tradition of the appreciation night, and the Pasadena Unified School District for their care and instruction of our students.

The program concluded with the benediction by Fr. Boghos.
