Student Gathering at Armenian Genocide Memorial Monument in Montebello

In commemoration of the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, on the morning of Thursday, March 31, Mesrobian Middle and High School students marched from campus to the Armenian Genocide Memorial Monument, where they were met by hundreds of students from a number of Armenian Schools. Mesrobian students first stopped at City Hall, where they were greeted by alumnus and current Montebello City Council member Jack Hadjinian. After the flag ceremony, the students continued toward the Monument, joined by city officials.

At the Monument, welcoming remarks were delivered by Mesrobian School Principal David Ghoogasian, followed by the opening prayer by Holy Cross Cathedral Dean, Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, and Pastor, Rev. Fr. Ashod Kambourian. The students then recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the Armenian national anthem. Councilmember Jack Hadjinian conveyed his message, followed by the laying of flowers. The program, which also included music by Greg Hosharian, concluded with a prayer dedicated to our holy martyrs.
