On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, welcomed the visit of Dr. Nerses Sarkissian, member of the ARF Central Committee of Syria and of the Syrian Armenian Committee for Urgent Relief and Rehabilitation, who is currently touring communities in the Eastern and Western United States to present the situation in Syria. Dr. Sarkissian was accompanied by ARF Western Region Central Committee member Mr. Vahe Bozoyan.
Dr. Sarkissian briefed the Prelate on the tremendous challenges facing our communities in Syria, and in Aleppo especially, and on the difficult conditions under which our schools and organizations continue to operate. Dr. Sarkissian expressed thankfulness for the strong support of the Diaspora, and in particular of the Western Prelacy, and spoke about how the distribution of funds is carried out in a fair manner among the neediest under the supervision of the Prelacy of Aleppo.
The Prelate and guests also discussed the fundraising efforts of the Syrian Armenian Relief Fund, including the upcoming Telethon on February 21st, with His Eminence affirming the Prelacy’s continued full support of our community in Syria.
