On Saturday, February 8, 2020, the 45th anniversary gala of Richard Tufenkian Preschool and Kindergarten was held at the California Science Center in Los Angeles with the motto “Building Together, Nurturing Generations.” H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended and delivered his message. He was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Ardak Demirjian. Also in attendance were H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Vicar General, Executive Council Chair Garo Esghian, Vice-Chair Meher Der Ohanessian, and Secretary Elizabeth Boyjian.
The program began with welcoming remarks by School Board member and MC Gevik Baghdassarian, which was followed by the invocation. A video presentation of the School’s history followed. The School Board’s message was conveyed by Chairman Artin Shaverdian. Director Arsine Aghazarian delivered her message. Founding members, the first director, and teachers were recognized for their service and contributions to the School.
The Prelate congratulated and commended the director, school board, faculty, student body, parents, and sponsors on the milestone 45th anniversary, stating that together we built and nurtured generations and we will continue to do so. He commended in particular the School’s benefactors, Ralph and Savey Tufenkian, for the continued generosity, care, and support they have demonstrated over the past 30 years which has been vital to the advancement of the School. His Eminence joyfully announced that, on this occasion, Mr. and Mrs. Tufenkian had pledged yet another generous donation of $100,000 toward the School’s expansion and modernization project. He blessed the memory of their beloved son Richard and concluded by wishing them good health.
