Two Members of the Holy See of Cilicia Brotherhood Begin their Service Within the Western Prelacy


H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and the Religious and Executive Councils are pleased to announce that in response to their request, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I has assigned two members of the Cilician Brotherhood, Very Rev. Fr. Torkom Donoyan and Very Rev. Fr. Vache Balekjian, to serve within the Western Prelacy.

The clergymen arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. They will be based out of the Western Prelacy headquarters and by the ordinance of the Prelate and Joint Councils will serve in various parishes and arenas, including Christian Education, youth groups, Sunday Schools, and Bible studies.

Very Rev. Fr. Torkom Donoyan (Baptismal name Trasdamad) was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1986. He was ordained a celibate priest in May of 2006, received the rank of Vartabed in December of 2010, and Supreme Archimandrite in May of 2016. Within the Catholicosate, he has served as Director of the Christian Education Department, editor of the Catholicosate’s official monthly publication “HASK,” Dean of the Theological Seminary, teacher of Armenian Church history and moral ethics, and conductor of the “Shnorhali” and “Armash” choirs. Most recently he completed a condensed program in Theological Studies in Wales, United Kingdom.

Very Rev. Fr. Vache Balekjian (Baptismal name Hampartsum) was born in Aleppo, Syria in 1993. He was ordained a celibate priest in June of 2013 and received the rank of Vartabed in June of 2016. Within the Catholicosate, he has served as Director of the Catholicosate Sunday School Department, staff-bearer, and assisted the Christian Education Department. He has furthered his studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut, Lebanon.
