EPISCOPAL DIVINE LITURGY AND ORDINATIONS AT
THE NORTH HOLLYWOOD PARISH
– PRAYERS FOR THE ARMENIAN BONE MARROW DONOR REGISTRY
On Sunday, April 15, New Sunday, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will celebrate Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon at the Armenian Apostolic Church of North Hollywood.
During the service, the Prelate will ordain as deacons Baghdig Ekmekjian and Raffi Baghdassarian.
Parish Pastor Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian will assist at the altar.
The church is located at 13050 Vanowen St. in North Hollywood (St. Paul Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church).
A reception will follow at the church hall.
By the ordinance of the Prelate and the request of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry, special prayers will be offered in Prelacy Churches during Divine Liturgy, and the organization will set up information booths to reach out to the community and register donors.

CRESCENTA VALLEY CHURCH 7TH ANNIVERSARY
On Saturday, April 14, the 7th anniversary of the Crescenta Valley Church will be celebrated with a banquet at St. Mary’s Church “Armenak Der Bedrossian” Hall in Glendale. The banquet is being held under the auspices of the Prelate, and is organized by the Pastor, Board of Trustees, and Ladies Auxiliary Guild.
Evening highlights include candle lighting and a special recognition ceremony honoring former parish pastor Rev. Fr. Ardak Demirjian.
The Prelate will attend and convey his blessings.

USC INSTITUTE OF ARMENIAN STUDIES
7TH ANNIVERSARY BANQUET
On April 15, the USC Institute of Armenian Studies 7th anniversary gala banquet will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The banquet is in honor of the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for championing the Armenian Genocide Digitization Project.
The Prelate will attend and convey his blessings.

L.A. BOARD OF SUPERVISORS GENOCIDE COMMEMORATION
On Tuesday, April 17th, a special presentation will take place during the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors weekly meeting proclaiming April 24th, 2011 as the “Day of Remembrance for the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923”.
The Prelate has received an invitation from Supervisor Michael Antonovich, and will participate in the presentation. He will be accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian, Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian, and Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian.

CALIFORNIA STATE LEGISLATURE GENOCIDE COMMEMORATION
Each year the California State Legislature and the Armenian National Committee – Western Region join together for Advocacy Day. This year’s Advocacy Day will be held on Thursday, April 19, at the State Capitol in Sacramento. The 97th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will be commemorated in both the California State Senate and Assembly chambers, during which the Legislature will vote on resolutions dedicated to the Armenian Genocide
Members of the Armenian National Committee and Armenian-Americans from throughout California will also participate in the commemoration.
The Prelate will deliver the opening prayer on the Senate floor. He will be accompanied by Rev. Fr. Vahan Gosdanian.

PRELATE WELCOMES PRINCIPAL OF SHAMLIAN-TATIKIAN EVANGELICAL SCHOOL OF LEBANON
On Tuesday, April 10, 2012, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, welcomed to the Prelacy Ms. Vartouhi Balekjian, Principal of Shamlian-Tatikian Evangelical Secondary School in Bourj Hammoud, Lebanon, who is currently in Los Angeles on a brief visit. Ms. Balekjian was accompanied by alumni Mr. Minas Fournouzian.
The visit was an opportunity to discuss and exchange information on the mission, state, and challenges of Armenian Schools in Lebanon and the Western U.S.
Ms. Balekjian, who was appointed principal this year, reported on her visit to the U.S. and the endeavors of the school. The Prelate welcomed Ms. Balekjian to the U.S. and wished her success in her duties and mission as principal.

PRELATE CELEBRATES EASTER DIVINE LITURGY
AT ST. MARY‘S CHURCH IN GLENDALE
On the morning of Sunday, April 8, 2012, the feast of the Glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ was ceremoniously celebrated in all Prelacy Churches.
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, celebrated Divine Liturgy and delivered his Easter message at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale. The Prelate began his sermon by announcing that on behalf of our Prelacy clergy, councils, and faithful, in the morning he had conveyed his Easter well wishes to H.H. Catholicos Aram I, and that His Holiness had in return conveyed his blessings to our faithful. In his sermon, the Prelate stated that when we are fortified and inspired by the victory of the Resurrection, we are renewed in our faith and will.
On Monday, April 9, the Prelate and clergy members offered requiem prayers at Glendale and Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn.

EASTER DIVINE LITURGY AT “ARARAT HOME”
On the morning of Wednesday, April 11, 2012, Easter services were held at Ararat Home in Mission Hills, presided over by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and with the participation of clergy members.
The Prelate and clergy members first visited the nursing facility where they sang an Easter hymn and led a prayer service, after which the Prelate blessed bread, salt, and water. Clergy members then offered Holy Communion to the residents. The service concluded with the Prelate conveying his Easter wishes to the residents.
Divine Liturgy was then celebrated at the Chapel. Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian celebrated Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon. Clergy members sang Easter hymns, conducted the blessing of the home service, offered Holy Communion and their blessings to the residents.
A luncheon hosted by the Board of Directors followed.

GOOD FRIDAY AND EASTER EVE SERVICES
On the evening of Friday, April 6, 2012, the burial of our Lord Jesus Christ was commemorated in Prelacy Churches with a solemn service.
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, presided over the Good Friday service at St. Sarkis Church in Pasadena and delivered his message on this occasion. Among the faithful in attendance was Consul General of Armenia the Honorable Grigor Hovhannissian.
In his sermon, the Prelate emphasized the profound message of the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ for our redemption and salvation, and invited the faithful to approach the tomb solemnly and receive its life-giving message.
On Saturday, April 7, the Prelate presided over Easter Eve services at St. Garabed Church in Hollywood and delivered the sermon. Sunday School students completed the Scripture readings.
In his sermon, the Prelate urged the faithful to live their lives inspired by the triumphant message of the Resurrection and filled with the Easter tidings of love, peace, and renewal.
At the conclusion of Divine Liturgy, the Jrakalooyts service took place, during which the faithful lit candles and exchanged tidings to one another proclaiming, “Christ is risen from the dead”.
