PRELATE TO PARTICIPATE IN CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETINGS IN ANTELIAS
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, has departed for Lebanon, where from February 9-11, 2016, he will participate in a number of Central Committee meetings at the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia in Antelias, Lebanon, presided by His Holiness Aram I. Dikran Babikian will participate in the meetings. Central Committee members Mr. Khajag Dikijian and Mr. Vahe Yacoubian will also participate.
The meeting of the Religious Council will be held on Tuesday, February 9, while the Lay Council will meet on Wednesday February 10. On Thursday, joint sessions will be held with the Central Committee, Prelates, and Executive Council representatives from each Catholicosate Prelacy. The Prelate is also a member of the Religious Council.
The sessions will focus on the review of Centennial activities, the New Cilicia village sponsored by the Catholicosate in Artsakh, the lawsuit for the Sis Catholicosate, Antelias-Etchmiadzin collaboration, the situation of the Armenian community in Syria, and general issues concerning the various Prelacies.

EVE OF GREAT LENT AND LENTEN SERVICES
Sunday, February 7 is the Eve of Great Lent, or “Poon Paregentan.” The seven-week period of Great Lent begins on Monday, February 8. During the Lenten period, Sunrise and Vigil services take place in Prelacy Churches on Wednesday mornings and Friday evenings respectively.
The Prelate traditionally presides over the first Sunrise service at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino, in which Ferrahian School students participate. However, given that His Eminence will be in Lebanon at the time, Very Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian will conduct the service. The annual Lent luncheon organized by the ARS “Anahid” Chapter will follow at “Dikranian” Hall.

PRELATE DELIVERS INVOCATION AT ARMENIAN EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION 65TH ANNIVERSARY GALA
On Sunday, January 31st, the Armenian Educational Foundation celebrated its 65th anniversary with a gala held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, during which community members Ralph Tufenkian and Hacop Baghdassarian were honored with the AEF Legacy Award and AEF Lifetime Service Award respectively. The event featured Dr. Richard Hovannisian as the guest speaker.
The Prelate attended and delivered the invocation. He was accompanied by Executive Council Vice-Chair Dr. Dikran Babikian.
Quoting from Benjamin Franklin that “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest,” and the idiom that education is the foundation of a nation, His Eminence commended the members of the AEF for their enduring investment in the education of our youth and the bright future of our nation by spearheading the establishment of Armenian Schools here within our community and abroad, providing much-needed resources to existing schools, providing scholarships, and much more. The Prelate congratulated also the evening’s honorees for their extensive and generous support of a vast number of Armenian organizations locally and abroad, commended the guest speaker for his valuable contributions to the field of education, and the sponsors and friends of the AEF for their moral and financial support.
