On the same day, the “Year of Renewal” message of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I will be read in all Prelacy Churches during Divine Liturgy in place of a sermon.

TRIBUTE TO HRANT DINK ON THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS ASSASSINATION

Dink10th1On the evening of Sunday, January 22nd, a special tribute to Hrant Dink was held commemorating the 10th anniversary of his assassination. The event was organized by the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Organization of Istanbul Armenians and was held at the organization’s center in Winnetka. During the program, the third annual “Hrank Dink Spirit of Freedom and Justice Medal” was awarded to Mr. Aris Nalci, journalist, film producer, former editor of “Agos” newspaper, and colleague of Hrant Dink. Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian attended on behalf of the Prelate.

SPECIAL SERVICE FOR THE UNBORN HELD AT THE ROMAN CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF LOS ANGELES

UnbormMass1Each year in January, on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles holds a special Mass and candle lighting ceremony to commemorate the lives lost to abortion on that day in the County of Los Angeles. The service, held under the auspices of The Most Reverend Jose Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles, will this year take place on Saturday, January 21st, at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles.

Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian and Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian attended on behalf of the Prelate.

PRELACY CHAPLAIN PARTICIPATES IN FAITH-BASED MEETING HOSTED BY THE L.A. COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH

ChaplainRaffiMeetingJanuary By the initiative of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, on Thursday, January 26, spiritual leaders and representatives from various religious denominations gathered at New Hope Community Church in El Monte for a faith-based breakfast meeting, networking, and training session on suicide awareness and prevention. Mr. Rafi Garabedian, who serves as Senior Chaplain of the Western Prelacy, participated in the meeting representing the Prelate.
