PRELATE WELCOMES ST. GARABED CHURCH LADIES GUILD
AND A.R.S “MAYR” CHAPTER MEMBERS
On Tuesday, June 5, 2012, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, welcomed to the Prelacy members of St. Garabed Church Ladies Guild and ARS Hollywood “Mayr” Chapter, who had come to congratulate the Prelate on his re-election. The visit was held at the “Sulahian” reception hall. Executive Council Chair Mrs. Rima Boghossian amd Secretary Mr. Meher Der Ohanessian participated in the meeting.
The Prelate and Council members welcomed the guests and commended their service to our church and community. The Prelate also thanked them for their congratulatory visit and well wishes. Among the items discussed was the invaluable contributions of Armenian women in our national life, in education, humanitarian, and social services, among other fields. Common challenges facing our churches, schools, and organizations and means of alleviating those concerns were also discussed.
The visit concluded with the presentation of mementos by the Prelate.

PRELACY SCHOOLS’ COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES
As the 2011-2012 academic year comes to a close, commencement ceremonies of Prelacy Sunday Schools and day Schools have been taking place in the past weeks and continue under the auspices of the Prelate. The Prelate and or representatives attend the ceremonies, and His Eminence conveys his blessings to the students.
On Sunday, June 10, the Prelate will attend the commencement ceremony of Rose and Alex Pilibos School. On Thursday, June 7, the Prelate attended the ceremony of A.R.S. “Mayr” Chapter Mary Postoin Pre-School, and on Sunday, June 3rd the ceremony of Richard Tufenkian Pre-School.

PRELATE ATTENDS “ARARAT HOME” MONTHLY LUNCHEON
On Tuesday, June 5, 2012, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate attended the monthly luncheon of “Ararat Home” in Mission Hills. This month’s luncheon was sponsored by the Armenian Relief Society Regional Executive and individual families in memory of their loved ones.
The Prelate was accompanied by Holy Martyrs Church Pastor Rev. Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian, and Executive Council Chair Mrs. Rima Boghossian.
The luncheon began with the blessing of the tables by the Prelate, who also delivered his message on his occasion. His Eminence gave thanks to God for granting the opportunity for members, friends, and supporters of Ararat Home and the ARS to come together. He expressed gratitude to both organizations for their decades of service to the welfare of Armenian people of all ages and thanked them for their contributions to the health, comfort, and well-being of our Armenian brothers and sisters. The Prelate also thanked the ARS and all sponsors and supporters for their encouragement of the Ararat Home and its mission.

CASPS HONORS ARMENIAN STUDENTS FROM LAUSD
On Wednesday, June 6, 2012, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended the 6th annual CASPS reception honoring outstanding Armenian high school students from the Los Angeles Unified School District was held at Grant High School. Religious Council Chair Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian and Executive Council member Ms. Ani Mgrdichian-Garikian accompanied the Prelate.
This annual event is organized by the Committee of Armenian Students in Public Schools to honor students from the 9th – 12th grades who have achieved academic excellence. 165 students were honored this year.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by CASPS Executive Director Arsineh Hovannisian. The Master of Ceremonies was Grant High School Assistant Principal Ms. Zepure Kevork. CASPS Chairman Mr. Rouben Gourjian delivered remarks on behalf of the Committee. Glendale City Clerk Mr. Ardashes Kassakhian delivered the keynote address.
The Prelate began his message by congratulating and applauding the students on their achievement. He advised them to always thank God for His bountiful blessings in their lives and to thank their parents and teachers for their support, encouragement, and for instilling in them the foundations of success. He urged them to make good use of the tools and resources provided to them in high school and to learn as much as they can during this time, to never forget the values, ethics, and morals they were raised with, and to remember that anything is possible with hard work and perseverance. The Prelate also reminded them of their responsibilities to one another and to our community as Armenian-Americans, and urged them to set an example to others with their good deeds and to serve our community to the fullest to make society a better place for all. In conclusion, he thanked the members and volunteers of CASPS, principals, teachers, and parents for their support and guidance of our youth.
The program included the presentation of certificates of commendation. Six students received scholarship from CASPS and the Armenian Educational Foundation.

WCC COMMISSION OF CHURCHES
FOR INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS MEETING
The 51st meeting of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission of Churches for International Affairs (CCIA) meeting will take place from June 9 to 16, 2012, in Nanjing, China.
Representing the Holy See of Cilicia will be Ms. Vanna Kitsinian, a devoted member of our Prelacy.
The meeting, which is hosted by the China Christian Council, will focus on “Understanding China”, covering topics ranging from market oriented economic reforms, poverty alleviation and environmental sustainability, role of religion in building harmonious society, religious policies of People’s Republic of China, role of NGO’s in developing initiatives in a Socialist China, among others.
There will also be a presentation by the WCC General Secretary regarding the Executive Committee’s proposal on “Reconstructing of CCIA in Post Busan Assembly 2013.” Working groups will address issues such a freedom of religion, rights of migrant workers and stateless people, peace and security, and peace in the community.
