EPISCOPAL DIVINE LITURGY AND CONSECRATION OF PAINTING ON THE NAME DAY OF ST. GREGORY THE ILLUMINATOR CHURCH IN SAN FRANCISCO
– REQUIEM FOR MARTYRS OF THE FOUR-DAY ARTSAKH WAR
On Saturday, April 1st, 2017, the Armenian Apostolic Church will observe the Feast of St. Gregory the Illuminator’s Descent into the Pit, which is also the name-day of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church of San Francisco.
On this occasion, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will travel to San Francisco where on Sunday, April 2nd, he will celebrate Divine Liturgy, deliver the sermon, and consecrate a painting of St. Gregory the Illuminator created by parish pastor Very Rev. Fr. Barouyr Shernezian and sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Varouj and Caroline Chitilian. As the day also marks the first anniversary of the four-day war in Artsakh, on this day requiem prayers will be offered in all Prelacy Churches for the souls of the brave soldiers who gave their lives in defense of our lands. The Prelate’s message on this occasion will be read in Prelacy Churches.
Following the service, the Prelate will meet meet with the Parish Pastor and newly elected Delegates and Board of Trustees members.
On Saturday evening, the Prelate will attend a benefit banquet organized by the Armenian Cultural Foundation at Green Hills Country Club.

PRELATE TO PRESIDE OVER LAST LENTEN SUNRISE SERVICE AND LUNCHEON AT HOLY MARTYRS CHURCH
Wednesday, April 5th, marks the last Sunrise Service of the Great Lent season. In keeping with tradition, the Prelate will preside over Sunrise Service and deliver his message at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino.
A luncheon organized by the parish Board of Trustees and Ladies Guild will follow at “Dikranian” Hall, during which Mr. Hovig Mahserejian will give a lecture on the “Year of Renewal.”
