THANKSGIVING PRAYERS ON THE 98TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA
Saturday, May 28, marks the 98th anniversary of the first Republic of Armenia, which is celebrated annually within Prelacy Churches with Thanksgiving Prayers for the Republic and the blessing of the Armenian flag.
On Sunday, May 29, the Prelate will preside over Divine Liturgy and Thanksgiving Prayers for the Republic at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by H.E. Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian, Prelate of Tehran, who will also deliver the sermon. H.E. Archbishop Yeprem Tabakian, Homenetemen scouts, and representatives of community organizations will be in attendance.

During requiem service, prayers will be offered for the martyrs of Sardarabad, Gharakilise, Pash Abaran, and for the heroes who have given their lives in defense of Artsakh, most recently during the four-day war in April.

USC INSTITUTE OF ARMENIAN STUDIES CELEBRATES 11TH ANNIVERSARY
On Sunday, May 22, the USC Institute of Armenian Studies celebrated its 11th anniversary with a gala banquet held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel presenting the Institute’s vision for a new century of scholarship and innovation.
During the banquet, the following individuals were honored for their contributions to the advancement of the Institute’s mission. They were: Zaruhy Sara Chitjian (Heritage Award), Mihran Agbabian (Dedication Award), and Gerald and Patricia Turpanjian (Legacy Award). Also honored were donors of the Institute’s endowment funds.
The Prelate attended and conveyed his congratulations to the Institute and honorees, wishing them continued successes for years to come.
