PRELATE TO PRESIDE OVER DIVINE LITURGY
AT FORTY MARTYRS CHURCH

OrangeCountyChurchOn Sunday, June 2, 2013, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will preside over Divine Liturgy at Forty Martyrs Church in Orange County.

By the ordinance of the Prelate, Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Karekin Bedourian, Pastor of  St. Gregory Church in North Andover, Massachusetts.  Fr. Karekin will also deliver the sermon.

PRELATE PARTICIPATES IN ARMENIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

HanrabedMaghtankOn Tuesday, May 28, Armenians worldwide celebrated the 95th anniversary of the first Republic of Armenia.

By the ordinance of the Prelate, on Sunday, May 26 Thanksgiving Prayers for the Republic were offered in Prelacy Churches on this occasion.

The Prelate presided over Divine Liturgy at St. Sarkis Church in Pasadena, where he also delivered the sermon, presided over the Thanksgiving Prayer service, and conducted the blessing of the tricolor Armenian flag.

On Tuesday, May 28, the Prelate attended the Independence Day celebration organized by the Armenian Bar Association and held at Phoenicia Restaurant in Glendale.

The program began with the invocation and remarks by the Prelate.

The keynote speakers were Armenian National Committee Western Region Co-Chair Mrs. Nora Hovsepian, and first Foreign Affairs Minister of the Republic of Armenia and founder of the Armenian Bar Association Mr. Raffi Hovannisian.

The cultural program featured Harout Pamboukjian, and a poetry presentation by Chamlian School students.

On Sunday, June 2nd, a concert organized by the ARF Western U.S. Central Committee will be held at Glendale City Hall Perkins Plaza.

PRELACY SCHOOLS’ COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES

As the 2012-2013 academic year comes to a close, in the coming days and weeks the commencement ceremonies of Prelacy Schools will be held under the auspices of the Prelate.  The Prelate personally or through representatives conveys his blessings and message to the administration, students, and parents.

On Saturday, June 1st, the year-end ceremony of Richard Tufenkian Pre-School and Kindergarten will be held at the Glendale High School Auditorium.  St. Mary’s Church Pastors will represent the Prelate.  Executive Council Chair Mrs. Rima Boghossian will also attend.

The year-end ceremonies of Holy Martyrs ARS Ashkhen Pilavjian and Levon and Hasmig Tavlian Pre-Schools will take place on Sunday, June 2nd.

The graduation ceremony organized by the Davidian and Mariamian Educational Foundation will be held on Saturday, June 1st, at Pacific Community Center in Glendale.  Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian, will represent the Prelate.

PRELACY PARTICIPATION IN SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
CLERGY COUNCIL MEETING

RafiSheriffDeptEventBy the invitation of Sheriff Lee Baca, on Tuesday, May 28, the first Executive Clergy Council meeting of the year was held at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Headquarters. On behalf of the Western Prelacy, Chaplain Rafi Garabedian attended the meeting, which brought together community leaders from 96 religious denominations represented in Los Angeles County.
