Western Prelacy Ladies Auxiliary New Year and Christmas Luncheon-Boutique

On Thursday, December 5, 2019, the annual Western Prelacy Ladies Auxiliary New Year and Christmas Luncheon-Boutique took place at Brandview Ballroom in Glendale under the auspices and with the presence of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate. This year’s host was Prelacy sponsor Kohar Sulahian.

The Prelate was accompanied by H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Vicar General, and Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian. Among the guests in attendance were Executive Council Secretary Elizabeth Boyajian, members of the ARS Regional Executive and chapters, members of Ladies Guilds from various parishes, sponsors, and friends.

The program began with opening remarks by the MC, Ladies Auxiliary member Sossy Guekguezian, who welcomed the guests and conveyed New Year and Christmas well wishes.

Prior to the invocation, the Prelate invited the guests to stand for a moment of silence in memory of longtime Prelacy Ladies Auxiliary member Hourig Abdulian. He then delivered his message, which he began by expressing thanks to the Lord for granting the opportunity to come together once again at the time-honored event. On the threshold of the year 2020, he emphasized that “the New Year is an opportunity for bright new hopes and to will, wish, think, speak, and do good.” His Eminence prayed for goodness to be a constant presence in the homes of all, for joy to be found in our thoughts and actions, and for God’s will to be fulfilled in our lives. He wished for 2020 to bring peace to our personal and professional lives and to the Middle East especially, security and prosperity for our compatriots in Armenia and Artsakh, and continued success to the greater Prelacy family.

During lunch, guests enjoyed Christmas carols sung by a group of students from Rose and Alex Pilibos School. Rima Garabedian also performed a number of songs, and a visit from Santa Claus further added to the festivities.

The MC thanked all the sponsors and guests for their encouragement and, in particular, the day’s host for her longstanding support of the Prelacy.

The Prelate once again commended Mrs. Sulahian and the Sulahian family for their years-long benevolence toward the Prelacy and presented a plaque in appreciation for her generosity in hosting the luncheon for a second time, while the Ladies Auxiliary presented a bouquet.

The festive atmosphere stirred guests to make gracious donations. Guests also had the opportunity to do Christmas shopping at the various booths set up in the hall featuring holiday wares.
