Western Prelacy Salutes Adoption of Armenian Genocide Resolution by the House of Representatives

Tuesday, October 29, 2019 was a monumental day for the Armenian nation as the U.S. House of Representatives adopted H. Res. 296 affirming the United States record on the Armenian Genocide with an overwhelming majority of 405-11. The resolution recognizes the Armenian Genocide, encourages education and public understanding on the facts of the Armenian Genocide, and officially rejects Turkey’s denial of the genocides it committed against the Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Syriacs, Arameans, Maronites, and other Christians.

H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, stated; “We salute the honorable members of Congress who stood up to long-standing Turkish denialism and voted in favor of truth and justice, and we applaud the tireless efforts of the ANCA which made this historic day possible. We have reached an incredible milestone, but the work is not done yet. Thus, let us continue to support the remarkable work of the ANCA by persisting in our phone calls, letters, and donations to ensure that we reach our goal of universal recognition and justice for the Armenian Genocide. We owe it to our holy martyrs, and we owe it to future generations so that history does not repeat itself.
