As the cornerstones of our families, mothers are revered by both children and adults alike, and by society as a whole. The word mother is synonymous with care, nurturing, sacrifice, among many other attributes. It is no coincidence that the most valuable institutions for the Armenian people are called “mother church” and “mother nation”.
To further highlight the value and unmatched role of mothers, His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, proclaimed 2013 as “The Year of the Armenian Mother”. Past years have been dedicated to the Armenian School, Armenian Book, Armenian Woman, and others.
In response to this proclamation of His Holiness, the Western Prelacy has throughout the year hosted events to celebrate and honor Armenian mothers.
The main celebration of “The Year of the Armenian Mother” will be held on Tuesday, October 29, at the Prelacy “Dikran and Zarouhie Der Ghazarian” Hall.
